With an unbelievable view of the water and enough space for their family, Joe and Darlene thought why not turn our beach cottage into our forever home? With the help of The Kitchen Company designer, Gail Bolling, they were able to take their choppy first floor and create a beautiful open concept centered around the kitchen of their dreams.

About the Design

Homeowners, Joe and MaryJo, were overjoyed to finally build their dream home in Branford, Connecticut. With the help of The Kitchen Company co-owner and designer, John Fecke, they were able to design the luxurious custom kitchen that fits perfectly with their transitional, coastal style. When discussing the client's wishlist, John states that "Joe and MaryJo wanted a plan that would provide ample area for two people to cook and take advantage of the breathtaking views of Long Island Sound."

Gail's Kitchen Renovation series is coming to a close. We've designed our kitchen layout, decided on a renovation timeline, completed our demolition, and set up a temporary kitchen. Now we are going to talk about picking out materials and finishes.

The first day of any kitchen renovation is Demolition Day. The existing cabinetry, appliances, flooring, and Sheetrock are removed to create a blank slate for the new kitchen. Gail, kitchen designer and co-owner of The Kitchen Company, is no stranger to kitchen renovation, and she's got some tips that helped her through the Demolition process.
