About the Design

Homeowners, Joe and MaryJo, were overjoyed to finally build their dream home in Branford, Connecticut. With the help of The Kitchen Company co-owner and designer, John Fecke, they were able to design the luxurious custom kitchen that fits perfectly with their transitional, coastal style. When discussing the client's wishlist, John states that "Joe and MaryJo wanted a plan that would provide ample area for two people to cook and take advantage of the breathtaking views of Long Island Sound."

In order to achieve this, John made use of the space below the window and provided plenty of base storage cabinets as well as a 5' by 10' island. This allowed for amazing sight lines throughout the open concept home and enough storage to make up for the lack of wall cabinets. The large center island doubles as a food prep area and a congregation space for entertaining.

Cabinet Details

The cabinetry is BrookHaven by Wood-Mode with Edgemont Recessed square doors in Nordic White finish complete with Top Knobs hardware. In contrast, the island finish is Vintage Shadow Grey, a color that brings more interest to the space and picks up the blue from the glistening water of the Sound. The Granite countertops and stainless steel appliances complete the luxurious feel of this kitchen.

This kitchen also includes traditional elements such as coffered ceilings and detailed crown molding combined with transitional cabinetry. This creates the clean, crisp and uncluttered feel of this gorgeous custom built home on the Connecticut Coast.
